Hand Waxing
OP .. several posters that actual know what they are doing have given you some good advice. Choose wisely.
It doesn't do any good to have captain cut and paste on ignore if you all keep quoting him.

Of course I don't know what I'm talking about.....OEM/Paint MFG documents & pics of my own that have NEVER been touched by claybar.............
This particular paint is murathane.....no clear, over 20 years old (painted in the 1980's)....9- 1st or 2nd trophies in regional shows

This little one was featured in Truckin Magazine in the early 80's (1981 IIRR---sold in 1990)...this is Ditzler acrylic enamel with 8 coats of clear, with color blended in, every 3rd coat wet sanded....sorry but there were no such thing as Digital cameras back then....and yes, the headlight kits came out after I did these....I'm not sure who was more upset...me or Dave Kent of El Segundo Calif- he actually fabbed up the very 1st square headlights on a 620 series.....

One of our daily drivers....1997 Cougar Sport....ordered new, this is actually a pic with no wax...polish only.

and another daily driver thats actually parked outside!

This provides a clearer pic of the shine & paint finish quality.

The pics are completely representative of the paint finish & quality as seen in person- a mirrir like finish.....and represent that oem paints can last 20 years if cared for properly.......wet sanding or "clay barring" a paint without cause - and I emphasise "without cause" is merely taking the "cheap, lazy, unprofessional" way to get a temp result....most of the so-called clay bar experts, do not have and connot show you an oem paint that they have repeatedly claybared for the past 20 years that have the depth & quality of shine these do...and why....because they don't have the vehicles in most cases to show and demonstrate their theory, most have not even had drivers licenses that long, and the few that have- that have a good quality shine & paint that is of good quality.....they only clay bar based upon actual need....which is very, very seldom in terms of frequency and limited in usage.

Those pictures prove nothing being taken in the shade.
Gipraw proved this to you, and typical when you get caught passing around BS, you ignore it.
Mother's released their clay product in 1999.

Kind of hard to get 20 years of usage with something that has only been around ~ 14 years ( 14 and change, it was SEP1999 when it was released ).
As a lot have mentioned, clay, polish, and then put on a good wax. There is nothing wrong with claying, I've been detailing for over 18 years now and have been claying since clay came out and there is nothing wrong with it. Carry on.......lol
OK, I'll say it. The picture of the Lincoln pickup shows absolutely nothing. The truck is cleverly parked under a tree which almost completely shields it from sunlight. Oldest trick in the book. Now, if it were parked in direct sunlight ...
If you want to see how to take pictures that show the true condidtion of a vehicle's paint, take a look at this post:

As you'll possibly notice, I used a halogen lamp to highlight the absolutely terrible condition of the black paint before and during the detail. I then pulled the truck out into direct sunlight and too the "after" shots. Got anything like that? Probably (conveniently) not.

How many times does it need to be posted ?

I would go with clay has not been mass available that long....

With regards to when Megs released their clay bar......I don't doubt when it was released, never made any statement to such....but it clearly demonstrates 20 year old paint does not need clay bar to remove contaminents...BTW the latest Megs commercial now states (It shears off contaminents)....just like a razor shaving your face, it leaves the reminents...funny just like the docs state.
With regards to the "Cleaver Pics"
So when "Kraigr" (previous login) personally saw my Mustang in MDR 2 months ago.....he had no comment...he introduced himself, gave me his Bus Card as a pro detailer, ..............I allowed him to touch the paint and find any single spot that was rough, not mirror like..............I even provided whit cotton (funeral type) gloves which are extremely sensitive to any roughness on the surface. I also advised that the vehicle had not been washed with water in 5 years.
I was called a liar regarding that the paint was 20+ years .Lol...
you kids, just keep buy the PR stuff....and even when I did post pics of my 1990 F150 LXT shortbed- Bright regatta blue....you remember....the pics that were taken in front of a paintbooth, inside a building, with the "lights as you demnded"....they again showed a mirror finish...and of course you & others claimed the truck had just been painted.......yeah, 1990.....
So, I'm lying, the FTC is lying, Ford is Lying, SW who is one of fords major paint suppliers is lying & all are creating false documents. As I told a Rep from Megs...if anything I am saying & printing is false....sue me....I have said the same to K&N regarding issues with their products as well.........
- You have posted BS like this before, and never answered the question of what was proven. You posted some software that gave you information that has been in the header of emails since RFC 822 ( and free for the clicking on more info ), as if it proved anything.
who do you "think" is a paid blogger here ?
- You seem to post the same copy -> paste ( here and on other forums ) which is a sign of a paid blogger.

- There is no member with that name here. So some made up member looked at your paint...

You have never posted pictures of 1990 F150 LXT here....
You , yes.
The FTC, the have no record of what you claim, which circles back around to you lying. Ford has never said what you claim. You can play the omission of an answer either way game, but stop signing your posts with Ford's name, you do not speak for them.
- At least the 3rd time I have asked, provide the case number. Going to ignore it a 4th time ?
Where ever you are copy & pasting this line from, you might want to make sure it fits the post you are using it in.
You go off on tangents about IT departments and paid bloggers that you claim the Admin ( Rockpick ) knows about.
Offered companies to sue you ? And get what from you, a 1997 Cougar ? That is a good return on capitol for some flake running his mouth.
Do you think this makes you sound more credible ?
- ProTip : It does not...
This is awesome...
Another "paid blogger"
Tom you bastard. I didn't know you were moonlighting. Where do I sign up?
Beechkid....you're an idiot. I need not post again in this thread. Others got this covered like Opti-Coat. (Yes pun intended)
Carry on OP.....listen to those other than Beachkid. He should be banned for scanning 20 year old photos that show nothing.

I don't have time to wet sand my truck lol...I like to clay bar and wax, I take really good care of my truck, but it is a truck and it's meant to be driven...I'm obsessive about my truck, I think some people are too obsessive though. I was just asking a simple question on how to hand wax, not on how to make my truck perfect after a week of work. Thanks for the suggestions and info though
