Best gas to use..
I guess this may be a personal issue to many but I am interested in which Gas people tend to favor. The only guidance from Ford is to use 87 Octane. But is Chevron better than Super Market Gas or is Exxon the one people like??
Just wanted an opinion or two..

Richard

The Engines forum would be a better place for this topic of discussion.
I use Chevron, but lots of people swear that Texaco is the best gas available.
For me, Chevron is the most economical gas for me to use since I can buy it wholesale.

It's even more complicated than picking the one you like.
There are approximately 26 variations of gasoline distributed in this country due to different factors such as state laws regarding pollution, altitude, temperature differences during the year and so on.
The truth is that you can't be guaranteed you are even getting gas that is brand specific. Example: A gas station is required to buy xx gallons per month from the franchisor (Texaco, Gulf, Exxon take your pick) or their authorized disributor (!) if appropriate. Once they reach the quota, they can buy from any distributor but the octane grade will always be correct.
My brother-in-law drives a gasoline tanker for a "no-name" distributor (no name on truck) and delivers to many brand name gas stations.
Donate54 got it right. Just by the cheapest and save your money. Your only going to burn it anyway!

See Mike Troyer's post in 'chip' section. He recommends four for their high energy content--important for best performance--chip or not....
1. Texaco
2. Amoco
3. Citgo
4. Shell
Btw, no Exxon--they sell only reformulated gas everywhere, not just where they have to.
