Collinite Insulator WAx
Collinite Insulator WAx
Anyone have any experience with this wax? its carnuba, and lots of buzz on the internet that its a high quality wax for a reasonable price. Any comments? or can someone suggest a wax for my black truck? I know very little about wax other than it makes it look good. In fact, not even sure what wax does other than that to be honest.
Collinite 845 is a good wax and it's pretty durable, both my truck and my wifes car get's two coats of NXT 2.0 and then topped with 845 before winter hits and that will normally get us through the end of January. Wax is a barrier between the elements and your paint but your right there are some that offer better protection (Collinte 845, Meg's NXT 2.0, Meg's #16) and then there are some that are more for looks but do off some limited protection depending what types of Carnuba are used. If you are looking for good protection at a decent price it's hard to beat Meg's NXT 2.0 topped with Meg's 21 that can be found just about anywhere like NAPA, Advanced, Pepp Boy's, and Wal Mart if you don't want to order over the internet.
One word of caution, the Meg's #16 and Collinite 845 can be touchy and can be a royal PITA to remove if it's applied to thick or left on the body panel to long. Don't ask how I know.........

I've used #845 for years on some client vehicles (as well as my own at times) and it's a stellar 'old school' wax.
I should also add that I've spoken with the folks at Collinite about this product on more than one occasion -- they're FANTASTIC to deal with and KNOW THEIR PRODUCT! It's great to have a great product and great customer support from the manufacturer.

845 is inexpensive, easy to apply, lots of longevity and durability and very shiny.
NOTE: Shake WELL before using and apply thin coats.
You'll love it. It's good stuff! It's that simple.

I always use it during the winter months. Last year I didn't use it on my 2nd winter waxing and the fenders on my old truck were chipped quite a bit, along with my grill and hood lip. Never again will I substitute it for winter use.
Collinite is great stuff! I like the 476 better than 845. Just melt a little 476 in your bare hands and smear it on. I found this much easier to remove versus 845, which is a PITA if you get it on too thick.
I have never had much of a problem removing thick 845. Then again, as many vehicles as I have waxed before my definition of thick may be different and I am use to hand applications. Could be the micro fiber towels also.
I personally love Collonite products and have used both the 476S and 845 products. My preferance is the 845 because I just find it easier to get off. Here's a shot of my last truck after a full detail using 845 as the LSP. Pretty nice huh?
Now that said, IMO plain white is the most difficult color look wet and to make sparkle.
IMHO Collinite insulator wax 845 is inexpensive, very shiny, does an excellent job of beading water and lasts a long time.
That is one shiny truck! It looks looks awesome!
