Howdy All,

Two rolls of masking tape, the wide stuff. On my FLaRE it take about a hour and half to tape up all the plastic and rubber trim.

Then I just go NuTZ and let Er rip with the D/A - Buff, Polish and Wax. AnyTHaNG within six feet resembles a crime scene......Look OuT.....

Pull Da tape off, and enjoy an Ice Cold Vernor's. HuGE GRiN

Well guys I may have found the solution today. I went to Auto Zone and ask the guy that worked there what is the best thing to take wax off black trim and he recommended Meguires Gold Class Trim Detailer. I used it just an hour ago and all the wax is gone from my trim. I don't know if it just covered it up or actually removed it altogether. It comes in a white liquid so I would think that it doesn't cover the wax up. All I know is that this stuff took the wax away with no work. Just rub it on and the wax is gone and the trim looks new again.

Anybody else ever used this product????

The guys at saabnet.com insist that peanut oil (yup, the kind you cook with) works the best. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm due for a wax soon, and I will.

Peace, Dennis

i had cherry wet waxed my L last w/end and had wax marks on the trim. tried wd 40-didn't work. then applied eagle one tire protectant--it worked and the plastic/vinyl trim gas a subdued, wt/black look.

I used the Meguires Gold Class Trim Detailer this past weekend and it did remove the wax from my bed trim but it rained on Sunday and I noticed streaks coming from the bed trim so I called Meguires and informed them that I like the fact that the Trim Detailer removed the wax but didn't like the streaks it left on my paint. They told me the product is water based and will not strip the wax on my paint and they informed me to us just a light coating on the trim and work it in to the trim instead of putting alot on and having it run when it rains.

Save your money and get a spray
bottle of Turtle Wax Tire &
Black,comes in a clear container,
$1.79 + tax, at any auto store.
I use Liquid Glass and someone up
the line said they quit using it due
to getting it on the black
plastic..??
Just take your time, by the way, just
because all these waxes and cleaner
sell for big $s, doesn't mean they'll
do a better job, read the label and
see what's in the for cleaner and
protective...SAVE your $.....

Gotta agree with dogcam. I've been a fan of Liquid Glass for a long time. I'm going to put the first waxing on my truck this weekend. So tomorrow it's off to get wax and precleaner.

Thumbs up

Hey,
I appreciate all the responses to the post. I used the WD 40 as I had some around and it worked well. I will just be more careful from now on I am gonna try some of the Meguires Gold Class Trim Detailer (I use the Gold Class Wax too.), so hopefully that will help too. Again thanks for all the responses.

pencils!!

i know this is an old thread, but i wanted to share my knowledge or removing wax from trim. i used a simple everyone has these laying around trick. pencil eraser. the rubber grips the wax, and pulls it off the trim. i've tried the other ways and to no avail! so i used an eraser, came right off. best if you have one of those artist erasers or a drafting eraser, they are bigger and easier to handle. so that is my two cents, most of those other products either hide the wax by covering it up and even making it wet so it becomes transparent. but the eraser removes it completly. hope i was of help to someone out there. Plain old pencil eraser works better than anything.

From my experience...Back to black turns white in a week or so.
Pencil erasers work great.
Mr. Clean Magic Erasers also work great.
My favorite is the Meg.'s Rubber/Vinyl protectant spray. Put on a MF and carefully wipe affected plastics. Works like a charm.
Aside from that, When ur done with all the cleanup, I suggest some method of applying silicone spray. Another great protectant. But Meg.'s is more than good if ur pressed for time.
