Question Door Crack Fix in Houston?

My baby's got the door crack! Noticed it yesterday. It is VERY tiny right now, but it's there. My XLT was built July '00 and has ~8000m on it. The crack is only on the driver's side door.

I live in the Houston, Tx, area and was wondering if anyone has been to a dealer here to have it repaired, and which dealer was it? How was your experience and how did they fix it?

I STILL can't locate the TSB on this problem!

Thanks, all!!

I registered my crack at Bay Area Ford a little over a year ago when I first noticed it (not coincidentally, the day I first discovered this board!) At that time, there was no fix authorized yet. They did not give me any trouble. It was still in warranty at the time. I was told I needed to get it done before hitting 50k miles. I'm going to have it fixed over the summer.

Well, don't I feel silly! What I thought was a crack is a scratch/chip in the clearcoat that's embedded with debris. But it LOOKS like a crack. I took it to Tommy Vaughn Ford in Houston. They have been fixing the cracks. They also told me that trucks built after April 2000 have re-enforced doors and shouldn't develop cracks.

KENSTER: Thanks for the reply!! I hadn't called Bay Area Ford since I found Tommy vaughn.

Cool

Hey harkri,
Tommie Vaughn is where I bought my truck used from. The svc. guy(the older mexican guy) just kind of shrugged his shoulders when I showed him the crack on mine. I guess I should've talked to the bodyshop dept. up Shepherd. I'm going to try it once more when I come home next time,I hope they will do something about it ,,,,,98

I'm stuck in Detroit right now,I'd rather be home frying in the Houston heat
