greasing bearings (4WD)

Post greasing bearings (4WD)

can anyone tell me how to grease the front wheel bearings in a 4WD truck. looked in the haynes manual but all they had was how to do it on a 2 wd.
truck is a '97 f150 4x4

'97 & up Ford F150 4x4's have sealed frt wheel bearings & are not serviceable. If they're making noise, you have to replace the bearing & hub Assembly.

thanks much JJ200XLT: no noise yet just figured i should be greasing em soon. guess i don't have to worry about that then.

Yep, they have the stupid sealed bearing/hub design. Just hope you don't have to replace them. they are about 175 ea for non-abs front wheels and about 214 for abs type front wheels.

holy smoke! is that for just the part or is that installed? i suppose they're a PITA to install too right.

That is just for the part, and not at a dealer either. I work for a parts store (Advance Auto) and I have priced almost everything on my truck and what it costs to replace. Not sure how hard it is. Might be able to tell you pretty soon. As I have a noise from the front drv wheel, if it's not the brakes it's the stupid bearing. Check chapter * in your Haynes manual, I took a quick glance and think that is the section you need to look in.

PS: If you do need them,check around find the lowest price and then go to Advance, they will match any price on any part as long as they have the same warranty coverage.
