TG - try replacing that UQD with UQW and I think you will like it even better.

A very good carnauba for topping with is Megs M26. If you want something you can buy OTC, maybe Megs Deep Crystal.

OK here's list of what I've ordered so far.

The Uber Porter Cable 7424XP Orbital Polisher Base Kit with the four pads.
Meguiar's M105 8oz.
Meguiar's M205 8oz.
Meguiar's Supreme Shine Microfiber Towel 3 pack
Meguiar's HiTech Yellow Wax Liquid M26 16oz. (carnauba wax)
Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 (18-Ounce Liquid)
Meguiar's G1016 Smooth Surface Clay Kit

I have other stuff like wash buckets, MF wash mit, assorted MF towels, Megs gold class wash, S-X, Rain-x, Stoner's invisible glass, and a Megs tire dressing I like, so the hit could have been worse. :o

But it's a start.

You didn't run your car through any car washes or use crappy soap did you?

My NXT makes the water bead just about the whole year but I also keep it in the garage approx. 50% of it's life.

No only car wash its been too is the quarter wash and that to just spray the dust off. I never use soap cause it never has road film on it, its only driven on dry days

I think he means he doesn't use the soap at the quarter wash. What I do in colder weather when I don't want to dig the hose out and hook it up is use the quarter wash to blast it off, using rinse only, then drive it home and wash it with ONR. In warm weather I use the hose and proper soap. The soap at the quarter wash is hard on wax.

Well after dinner, or is it supper, I washed the truck, two bucket method. Found out I love microfiber drying towels. It was getting late so I had to work fast.

I picked a spot on the lid and started claying that area. Then I taped off an 18" or so square. It was getting close to dark but I pressed on. Got my pc7424xp and put some M105 on an uber green pad and did two sets of six passes and wiped. Then M205 and an uber blue pad and did one set of six passes then wiped. I was putting medium pressure on the 5 setting. Then took the NXT on the uber black pad with no pressure and did one set of six passes and let it dry, then wiped. It looks noticeably different and I can't believe how easy it was. I still have some scratches and swirls so I need to pick up some s/x since mine was all separated.

Sure is gratifying to make the truck look good, even if it is just a good looking 18" square right now.

Pics to come tomorrow.

Do you have tomorrow off to finish up the rest of the truck? I'd be apprehensive about continuing to work on a vehicle that's been driven without re-washing, or even left out over night without being garaged......

I'll be rewashing before any more work. Common sense sort of thing to me.

M105 will get rid of scratches better than ScratchX.

Remember - least aggressive first - use M205 FIRST, then go back and use M105 only where needed, then M205 again on those spots.

That's how I did my test square, though I didn't say that since the swirls were still pretty substantial after the 205. I haven't had a chance to do anything today, get back on it tomorrow after work. Been really windy here so the truck is already covered with dust.

Clayed most of the truck and did 105, 205, then nxt on the bed and lid. Had to quit because it got dark. Lots of correction... No pics yet.
