Unhappy Broken rear window

I have a 2000 F-150 super cab with a sliding rear window. I broke one of the 3 paynes of the window and was wondering if I can change just that payne of glass or do I have to get a whole new window. If so what kind of $$ are we talking??

jbhalmay,

Take your truck to a reputable auto glass place and let them take a look at it. You don't want to have to buy a full assembly 'cause they are big dollars.

The dealer would do the same or just want to replace the whole unit.

I know in SC all you have to do is pay $5 dollars and it will get replaced for free its the law. I have used it twice, the inscurance (spelling) companys covers it.

I had to break out one of the factory sliding windows in a '86 Ranger years ago. I got a replacement for it at a local glass supplier.

Don't know if it would be cheaper at the dealer though.

Good luck.

Just find a local auto glass shop. They should be able to replace just the single pane.

My last Ford had a sliding window. I broke one pane removing my cell phone antenea(sp) the night before I was trading it in. Called my insurance company and they covered it even though I broke it! Had it replaced on the way to dealer next morning. $1100 on the receipt, no lie!
