Question Care Of "Black" Exterior Trim Surfaces???

What are the best products for the "black" areas that get a lot of sun exposure? Can you use the same product for the soft black rubber like seals on the windows and the hard black vinyl surfaces such as trim on the bed and bumpers?

I tried the Mop n Glo trick and it worked really well on black surfaces. And it's still dark black after two weeks.

How about some details!!! Full strenght, diluted? I have read that the interior sprays such as "Armour-all" are terrible for outside plastic products, actually help them deteriorate faster over time, will the product you mention do this too? I'm a bit confused...

Thumbs up

Matter of fact I got this information right here on this forum. MOTHERS BACK TO BLACK is the best stuff out there..got it at Pep Boys, if, you have one in your area..really great stuff..makes that dull faded black vinyl and rubber, look like it just came out of the showroom..last a long time and doesnt attract dirt! Armour-all and STP STINK BIG TIME!! Stay far far far away from it!!!! Try the Mothers Back to Black, you will not regret it..trust me.

Black Chrome works well too. Available at Auto Zone and Discount Auto Parts. But, I prefer Mother's products and Eagle 1. Good luck.

I also like Mothers Back-to-Black to get off wax and bring back the black colour. Works for me on hard (black) plastic trim.

For soft rubber weatherstripping around doors and windows, I use the original Armor All spray-on protectant. It is the only one I know about that actually protects -- keeps rubber from drying out and cracking.

I'm no expert, but I believe a lot of the competitors make tires and rubber look shiny and pretty but I'm not sure they actually protect against sun and ultraviolet rays.

My third F-series. The other two: '73 F-100 Custom, 240 cube 6, 3 on the tree, tan, "West Coast" mirrors, step bumper, knitted vinyl seat, AM radio; and '98 F-150 XL-SC, XLS package, Pacific Green, 4.2 5-speed, 3.55 ls, FM-cassette.

GREAT trucks!
