Detailing with pollen?

Hey guys and gals,

Well, it's that time of year already - the pollen has started to fall and I am about a week short on time. I am scheduled to do my quarterly detail this Friday.....but unsure if I should do it since the pollen is falling. Is it safe to do so? I am hoping for some rain tonight and tomorrow and if that happpens, it'll calm it down for a few days.

Any thoughts on detailing this time of year? I have a garage but will have to leave the door open as the truck fits in, but nose to wall, rear to door.

Shouldn't be a problem. Wash, bring inside, and QD (maybe some M34) every panel before working on it, to make sure there isn't anything there.

When done polishing, wash to remove any polishing dust/pollen, then glaze/wax, or w/e you do.

Basically, "wash" every panel if you see stuff on there...

At least, that's what I would do.

Already have pollen falling? Wow! North AL just had more snow this past week.

I usually wait until the pollen is over. Of course that mean I may have to wait a few weeks. Or if we get a real good rain that'll knock the pollen down for a few days then I'll do it.

Snow, eh? When I was in Huntsville a few years back, we didn't even see a snowflake. But yeah, the pollen is down.....not really heavy yet but this nice warm weather.....but it is starting to rain now and more tomorrow, so I am breaking out the DA on Friday.....

We haven't had much in the way of snow for the last 10 years or so. We've had 12 days of recordable snowfall so far this year.

As long as it's not so humid that your products don't setup properly, it sound like a good time. The rain will take a majority of the pollen out of the air.

We've gotten some good rain so far today and will continue. Tomorrow it is. Thanks guys. And enjoy the pollen - when you get it! It's like I have a yellow river running down the driveway!

No pollen here in Houston yet, but I've been putting off doing a full detail on my truck until after this awful event is over.....

I was planning on waking up around 5am to wash and try to learn how to claybar and all
that cool stuff. So is it not recommended until this pollen calms down?

I don't bother with anything but hosing the truck down during pollen season. By the time you finish cleaning, the truck is almost yellow again. It's akin to washing your truck in a hurricane.

I wouldn't bother, unless you plan on keeping your truck inside at all time. I washed my truck on Sunday, the pollen started falling Monday. It's a losing battle for the next month or so.

Another 4-6 weeks. It should start dying down in 2 weeks or so though.
