You should see how the Meguair's stuff works on a Harley. Detailing the bike takes a few hours, but man does it look sweet. I'll be trying the Wax Shop stuff in a few weeks. Runor has it that Turtle bought them & might be killing off the line.

I had been using the regular Turtle Wax products. I have a black truck and it never seemed to hold wax. I finally broke down and bought Turtle Wax Emerald Series wax and WOW what a difference. That stuff really lasts and goes on easy. I'm using the paste and this stuff even SMELLS good. I It doesn't leave any white powder behind which is GREAT for a dark colored truck. Is it the best? Probably not but for me I just want a wax that looks good and lasts a long time.

I live at the Jersey shore on the water(double creek). I just bought a 1997 F-150 red shortbed 4x4. A friend of mine suggested Meguiars mirror glaze 50 boat wax. He says it works great and will protect the truck from saltwater. I bought some but didn't apply it yet because it's been around 100 degrees for the last couple of days. If anybody wants to know how it comes out give me a yell.

Hey, now there's an idea, boat wax!! Yes, I would like to know how it turns out. And also if you did any prep work before waxing (especially since you just got a used truck and no telling what's on it now) I too an on the coast of NC and am very concerned w/salt spray.

Hey guys & gals, I have talked to the car detailer where I get my truck serviced and she told me to leave the wax on as long as possible. At least an hour for sure, if it can be done. She has let wax stay on cars over night before and she finds it no harder than normal. She said that it allows the wax to cure better. SO, I tried it ! WOW Man, did that truck ever shine and water beed and it wasn't harder to take the wax off. I found it to be about as easy as it would be if you just waited for 5 minutes. Just a tip, still using Meguire's. Too many people here are using it and getting good results.

Have Fun & Keep Truckin'

I'm a big fan of Mother's products. but I think after reading all the praise of McGuires, I will give them a try. I just used Prolong glass cleaner...it should be on the must have list for everyone. no streaks, cleans water spots, use it on hot glass, etc.

I use Meguiars currently but have been hearing a lot about Zaino Brothers products (http://www.zainobros.com). Has anyone tried them?

I was told by a Meguiars rep that i should use the #7 glaze first, then follow up with the Meguiars Gold Class. Do others agree with this? I don't mind the extra work if it really does the job. Truck is new and hasn't been waxed yet. Bob.

Glaze then wax sounds good. That's pretty much the route I took. Except I used the Hi-Tech yellow, #26 I think. Results were good. Lot's of effort required on this job. Good Luck,

Glaze then was is the ideal thing for a new car or truck. the glaze has no abrasives but a lot of oils that give the paint a wet look, then wax will then protect the finish.

Throughout the past 20 years I feel, I have either personally used or saw the results of the majority of waxes available; from detailing in a body shop to the good ole hand rub. My truck is one year old (today) and I recently checked the following url
and did exactly what Meguairs said to do.
In short my results were outstanding (hand rub). I used the Deep Crystal swril remover/clear coat prep, then the recommended polish, and finally Gold Class wax; I'll never use anything else again.

Please take the time and fill out their personal care questionarre - you will be
pleasantly suprised if you follow their suggestions. http://www.meguiars.com/locator.cfm

If any of you are interested (and live anywhere near Irvine, CA) Meguiar's has a class on paint restoration, where they teach you about the different types of paints, polishes, waxes, proceedures and the like. It's about 4 hours and it's FREE. If you check their web site there should be an 800 number, there may be other class locations.

I use Maguires High-Tech yellow, because it is really safe to use. Ford's Wax (the one that smells like a banana)is good also.
