Carolina Duster.
Carolina Duster.
Well, a month into winter and I'm already itching to go out and detail my truck. I'm making a list of detailing stuff I want for when Spring comes and was wondering if you guys have ever used this Carolina Duster. I can see where it would be nice since around here after you spend 10 hours detailing it's covered in dust within 10 minutes. I was wondering if anyone had problems with it scratching their paint or putting light swirls in it.
It is possible I did a typo and put Carolina instead of California.
But thanks Galaxy, that's good to hear. I've been wonderin if they were any good or if they would just scratch the CC.
Are they washable? I was reading the info on the back of one at Auto Zone and it said "The dirtier it is, the better it cleans." Is that true?

For super light dust it's alright. However if it's pretty dusty and/or on a dark colored vehicle it will produce some micro-marring. Nothing that a coat of wax doesn't cover up normally.
I use one at car shows since many are outside and lots of blowing dust in the high plains.
If it's been washed or dusted in the last 24 hours it's normally alright. But, much more than that will cause me to have to re-wax.

I've used the California Duster on my truck all of the time. Its basically long strands of yarn that are coated with parafin wax. It picks up the dust off the paint. I don't press down on the paint and rather just allow the duster to skim over the surface. MY truck usually stays parked in the garage most of the time. So it picks up some light dust over time. If its anything more then this I use a QD and a MF towel to wipe down the truck.

I have one. Mine is purple though. I got it at Walmart for I believe around 9 bucks. Very good investment. I live on a dirt road, so as soon as I get to the highway on my way to school I dust it all off. It's pretty effortless. I would buy it again.
