Cleaning/Protecting chrome?

I just bought a set of Brand New Chrome 23" Saleens.. and they look sooo pretty in the box in their current condition. Im not planning on putting tires on them until the spring. What would you guys recommend I use to coat them every once in a while until they go on? I just want a nice layer of something on them to give it a little extra protection before they hit the road. (FYI, I have bad OCD so I will be coating them maybe once a week )

Just wash them with car wash soap and use the same wax as on your paint. It will protect them as it does the paint.

It wouldnt take away from the shine would it? Im assume using the cleaner/polish after would take the layer of wax off?

I own a detailing business. You can also get that Mother's Chrome polish from Autozone, Advance, or Walmart which should provide some protection and make them look great. You have to be careful about polishing them so often unless you definitely sure that your rims are truely chrome and not just plated. You could take the chrome off. You can also use Meguair's Quick rim detailing spray. You find in some stores or order it from Meguair's. Make sure you use microfiber cloths.

I've had good results using Wenol, simichrome, and nevrdull on chrome wheels, and other chrome pieces. I believe they all leave a protective coating on the metal. I have used brasso also on chrome with good results. All of these products do a great job on my cymbals as well!

Just used some Wenol on some rims a couple days ago. Cleaned them up pretty well for the amount used. Not sure which variety it was (I think it was a black tube with German and English on it.) I followed it up with 845 with no reduction in "shininess." We'll see if it lasts longer than the Optiseal...

While there are different qualities of chrome plating on wheels ...
... all chrome wheels are plated.

There are no solid chrome wheels.

Frequent waxing is about the best protection while maintaing a clear shine. A coating of thick bodied grease or clear paint will work to protect them, but they'll look lousy.
