I bought a few tins of Colline 476s from HF about a year ago. I think they were getting rid of their stock at the time. I don't know if they ever carried 845. Some people have mentioned some local auto parts stores might carry 845 but I've never seen it. This is the lowest price I've seen on this wax.

Collinite 845 is a carnuba based wax that is very durable. People have also posted that it has good reflective properties. It seems to be close to 476s and I like 476s so I thought I'd give 845 a try.

ok that makes sense. I am trying to get my winter detail done very soon. I am going to clay, then I am going to try some Zymbol liquid cleaner wax I picked up, then mother's step 2, and then I was thinking topping it with NXT 2.0. Would get give me a few months protection?

I've never used Mothers Step 2 but it appears to be the same as NXT 2.0 so I think those two steps are redundant. NXT 2.0 has some very light polishes and fillers in it. I'd say you should get 2 months out of pretty much any of these products. Of course this depends on the weather and storage of the vehicle.

I've not used Nu Finish in.... like.... 20 years. I've also not read any up to date reports on it. I'd have to guess and say now. I think Nu Finish is a polish. Chances are good that it might remove some or all of the NXT. If you are placing something on top of NXT I'd put a pure wax on top of it.

Yes. I like the gloss of Meg 26. Many people rave above Megs 26 over NXT 2.0.

I have a bunch of OTC products. So how does this sound:

Clayed (obviously)
Then zymbol cleaner wax
Meg's Next 2.0
Meg's #7
and top it all with 26?

I don't think you need the cleaner/wax step as the clay is going to clean the paint and the ones that follow are the wax. Of course it would not hurt anything but I think you are adding work that is not needed.

That is a good price, just paid $20 shipped for a 1 pint bottle of 845 from AutoGeek. Love it though, its an awesome wax, I've had two layers on my paint for 3 weeks now and its still smooth to the finger tips.

Harbor Freight did have 845 for 5 to 7 bucks a bottle. If you are lucky, you may find a store that still has some left.

TG, the proper steps if you use OTC products by hand are as follows:

Clay
Cleaner of some sort - such as Deep Crystal step 1 or ColorX
NXT 2.0
Pure carnauba with no abrasives or cleaners on top if desired.

I personally just use the NXT, and hit it with Ultimate Quick Detailer after each wash to help boost the polymers. UQD isn't going to do much for you on top of carnauba.

I see GLC... thanks bud. Would Swirl X remove some of the micro scratches I have when I see it in florescent lighting or in direct sunlight?
