Best wax for polished wheels?

Anyone have any recommendations for a wax to protect my MT polished aluminum wheels? Winters almost over but I'm receiving my new wheel and tire combo today and I would like to put a coat of wax to protect them just in case it decides to snow again and state and county roads decides to throw salt/sand all over the place.

Thy make dedicated wheel waxes but any synthetic wax should help. Don't use a carnaube because it'l break down too fast with the heat wheels experience. For ease of use, I'd say Optimum Opti-Seal. A little goes a long way and it doesn't need to be buffed off. http://www.obsessivedetail.com/Optimum.html Just make sure that you get everything cleaned off as soon as possible should they put salt down again.

As ESF noted, synthetics are far better for wheels due to the heat build up from brakes. As good as the OptiSeal is, it's not available at your local auto parts store. You can find other products like Meg's NXT 2.0 and Mothers Synwax though. I'm not sure they're quite as good, but they're decent products.

One thing I'd seriously recommend before any of the above products though is a sealant such as Zoops. (You won't find that in a store though.) Polished (and uncoated) aluminum tends to oxidize very easily and no wax or synthetic sealant will slow it down much. Products like Zoops do tend to help there.

I'm still experimenting to find the right aluminum polish. I've tried Mothers Mag&Aluminum, Mothers Power Metal Aluminum, Adam's #1 and #2, English Custom Metal Polishes, and Heavy Metal.Adam's and Heavy Metal have been my favorite so far. I also have Optimum's Metal Polish that I hope to get to try tomorrow finally. I've heard real good things about it though.

I'd love to. However, the weather is NOT cooperating. Everyday I check the weather and everyday it says tomorrow is going to be nice. Then it rains. Rant over.

Not just rain but a mix over the next two days. I just put on new wheels and tires and all I want to do is wash my truck and take pictures and I can't even do that. At least I'm working 48hrs straight and won't have time. There's always sunday!
