Doing 1st detail soon, expert help wanted

Okay so ive done alot of wash/wax buff jobs but never a detail to this points.
Its been a year and a half since ive had the truck. i got it new with like 10 miles from dealer.

This is what i have and plan to do in this order. If order is incorrect or im missing something please let me know, no DA (yet!)
Megs NXT Wash
Clay w/ UQD
Megs Glaze #7
NXT Wax
and follow up with #26 the day after.

also got a bottle of hyper dressing but havnt tried it what application can it be used for. Wheel well, plastic trim, tires? please fill in on all the amazing uses!

I have plenty of microfiber towels, applicators for waxes and things

Truck Condition: Paint is good only minor swirling visible which the glaze and waxes should fill in i assume. Black sure likes to show those swirls close up when its clean

ANYWAY if i missed nething or need to change the order i do something please feel free to yell at me for being a little novice

Banana for those that help !!

For what it's worth, Meguiars doesn't recommend using UQD as a lube. They claim it's not cost efficient, but I also remember reading somewhere about the protection it leaves behind causing a problem. I imagine it can cause issues with the steps that follow the claying stage. The point to claying is to remove embedded contaminants and provide a clean surface. If the lube you're using is leaving something behind that is substantial enough to cause water beading, I'd imagine it could also cause problems with polishing and bonding of other products to the paint such as #7. Any of the other Megs QDs are recommend over UQD. Your order is correct though. Everything seems to be over the counter products from Megs so I would also recommend picking up some ScratchX 2.0 (make sure its the 2.0 and not the original) and/or SwirlX, both new products from Meguiars. Because they're new they might be difficult to find everywhere yet. Some have found it at WalMart already though. Anyway, both would be a good step in between the claying and the #7 to remove the swirls instead of fill them and both products are designed to be used by hand.

Hyperdressing is great. It can be used to achieve a matte or glossy finish on tires, wheel wells, interiors, exterior plastics, and it wipes off of paint easily with an MF and QD. 4:1 (4 parts water, 1 part HD) gives a good matte finish, 1:1 for glossy and 2:1 and 3:1 for in-betweens.

Good luck and don't forget pictures.

Thanks!

Definitely not done by hand! I feel for any soul who attempts that on a vehicle of this size!

I used a Porter Cable Dual Action polisher and a bunch of Adam's Products, see below:

I would really like to see those after pictures of your truck in direct sunlight because in my experience, Adam's doesn't offer much in terms of paint correction. The first picture that shows the swirls is a great direct reflection of the sun. I would have liked to see those same direct reflections on the afters.

This better? It got a little cloudy that afternoon...

I just like the reflection better in the first one I posted. Plus by the time I was done the sun had moved quite a bit so I couldn't get the same angle. I'll try better next time I do full detail because there are definitely swirls in the paint again.

Edited to Add: That's a pic of hood in case you couldn't guess. My biggest problem is water spots more so than swirls. Still looking for something that will get rid of those!

It's definitely a reflection of the sun, but I think the clouds take away from it. I fully understand the sun not being available come the end of a detail. They're very time consuming.

Your truck looks great by the way.

You can use Speed Detailer since you already have it. Or you could go to any of the major parts stores and pick up some Quik Detailer (not to be confused with Ultimate Quik Detailer). If you don't mind ordering online, you can always get some Meg's Last Touch. At $17 a gallon, it's a great choice for lube. Especially since you dilute it 1:1 for clay lube. So it's like getting 2 gallons of clay lube for $17 that can also be used full strength as a quick detailer.

yeah I saw that too. Still though, at some point in time the truck started looking better. Haha. How much though who knows without real sun shots. I jsut assumed that the first 4 were taken at the same time and he was just showing off the full pic of the truck because it was all cleaned up from using Adam's products.

Correct, all of the "before and after" shots were taken on the same day.

The last picture was taken after a simple wash and wax, but I like that one. Did you not notice the background is completely different in the last shot?
