Tape from Vent-Visors

I took the vent visors off my doors today because I quit smoking back in May and never liked the looks of them on the regular cab. Now the grey double sided tape won't come off. its not hardened, its still very soft. How can I get the sticky crap off without destroying my paint or my thumbs (by rubbing)?

wow.....see thread below maybe two days old

https://www.f150online.com/forums/ca...nt-visors.html

for quick easy use an adhesive remover over the counter easy to find such as goof off, or goo gone found walmart lowes home depot autozone....

for a more professional product go with a 3m found at most paint and body shop supply houses.

both work great

Damn, I specifically did not search because I didn't think this was very common. Thanks for the link. I will search next time, no matter how far fetched it may seem.

I'd steer away from Goof Off... I've had it harm the finish on plastic.
Makes it cloudy...

Goo Gone not as harsh... Pretty much just a citrius cleaner...

I know it may sound crazy...
But regular GAS works really well and dosent harm much!
Just apply to a rag and wipe... Most stuff comes right off...
For that tape you may need to soak it a little bit.

I've had good luck in the past with 3M's adhesive remover.

Believe it or not, simply heating the tape up with a hair drier will soften it and you'll pretty much be able to roll it right up / off with your fingers. Then you can use the citrus cleaner to remove and residue. Of course the 3M stuff is a sure fire winner if you can find it because they make the tape.
