any fixing this?

my brother has an 06 red f150 and while he was washing it today his stupid girlfriend used one of those green scrubbing pads you use for dishes on his paint! now the pasenger side door is all scratched up and loks horrible...

is there a way to fix this without owning a DA or anything like that... I really don't have many resources...all I have is wal mart and auto zone for products.

all I tried so far is scratch x and it didn't make much of a diferenc..also im using my phone to post so im not sure if I can put a pic up

She washed it with a Scotchbrite pad? WOW.

I don't know that your going to be able to truly fix it by hand. You might be able to lessen the appearance though. Depends on how bad it is. Pics would be great.

It's likely that most of it can be corrected but, it's going to take some resources above elbow grease... of course, this is an opinion, sight unseen.

First thing to do is get rid of the gf(lol) then see a body shop can buff it out.

sight unseen of course but you're more than likely looking at some pretty agressive polishes and a machine needed. I'm not even sure a DA would be able to take that stuff out. If it's deep enough it may even need to be wet sanded but that's just about the worst case scenario as long as she didn't scrub through the clear.

You might as well give Scratch-X a try, I've seen it get out some pretty nasty scratches with 3-4 passes.
If that doesn't work, try 105. It works really really good, even by hand.

How long did you work the scratch X? You need to work it for a while to fully work. Everyone always trys "applying" it like wax/sealant. It does not work that way. You need to work/polish out the imperfections. I had a buddy that did something similar with his car and scratch x fixed it without me pulling out the DA. Try working it for a minute and see how much further it goes once the abrasives have broken down more.

I hope this might help some, if not, if he ever comes to Fl. I will hook him up.

DA
Dual Action Polisher. The detailer's weapon of choice. Generally refers to the Porter Cable 7424 Dual Action Polisher. Used mostly for defect removal in paint. Can also be used for last step product (LSP) application and removal.
