Morning Everyone,

Maybe this has been covered already but here my question. Is there anyone good methond for keeping the outside looking showroom conition? Is it that I am better off just going to an automated Car wash?

Thanks in advance

Read the sticky at the top. It's labeled detailing sticky. And yes, there are tons of methods for keeping it showroom. You need to start by learning how to wash, clay, polish, and wax.

No No on the automated car wash.

To keep it looking show room new than your going to need to make a commitment otherwise forget it. Meaning regular washing and paint maintenance. Read the sticky at the top. That will get you going in the right direction.

Its at the top of the 'Care & Detailing' page, they're the top two threads and are very valuable. And in all honesty, your question is too open ended and depends on too many factors for a showroom shine because theres probably dozens of ways to acheive this depending on the present condition of your paint. I agree with JohnnyD though, big no to the automated car wash, and committing the time to your truck on a regular basis will be huge. Good luck though

Depending on the type of automatic car wash will yield different results. A touchless car wash is relatively friendly to the paint, but the cleaning ability is relatively limited. A non-touchless car wash has the potential to get the vehicle cleaner, but you are subject to surface scratches. As noted by cotedog3 to keep the truck looking good all the time requires a big time committment. I see you are a fellow Minnesotan so I know first hand it is a little harder to do the detailed self cleaning when it is a 30 below January afternoon. I try to get out and do a good cleaning during the summer months but come winter I rely on a my local dealership to keep it clean for me with their inhouse detailing shop. So in Minnesota anyway, it takes a big time committment plus a few bucks to keep the truck looking showroom condition. Good luck.

To have show room finish results you will need to do alot of comitting to detailing it, and learn about waxes, polishes, wash methods and such, which is exactly why the great detailers on here created the Detailing Sticky.
