Detail Project

I have a 06 scab 4x4 thats gets washed at least once a week and waxed maybe once a quarter. Ive been reading on here and decided that i want to do a full detail job. Can some people chime in and tell me what products I really need. My paint is not in excellence condition but is not abused by no means. I has the famous swirls and surface scratches but no oxidation or heavy scratches. I just need some help with what polish and wax yall would reccommend and what steps I should take. Thanks in advance

Here is a pic of my truck after a wash and quick wax job so maybe this will help yall decide on what I need.

Have you read the sticky yet? It's got a lot of helpful information. If you haven't read it yet, my suggestion would be to start there.

You're probably not going to get a unanimous decision on what you really need. Sounds like maybe some Megs #80 to start with to get those swirls and scratches out and maybe some #83 if the #80 is producing the results you're looking for. A couple of products I have recently added to my detailing supplies that I have come to love are Danase Paint Sealant and Wet Glaze and also Optimum Opti-Seal.

Also getting ready to add a DA to my arsenal because doing everything by hand is getting tough on the ole shoulder and takes alot of time on the weekends.

If you are going to be working by hand, I would recommend Meguiar's Deep Crystal 3 step process. It runs like $7 per bottle, you get a paint cleaner, a pure polish, and a wax. It simply says Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3. I've had GREAT results from it. Make sure you use a clean applicator pad for each step, and you DO NOT allow step 1 and step 2 to dry. You work a small 1x1 or 2x2 section at a time.

Reply to guitarman502, I noticed you suggested the 3 step process. I recently purchased that and have been waiting to try it out, if i can ever find a cool enough day. But to my question, so are you saying with the first 2 steps you wipe it out just as soon as you apply it? Any help with the 3 step process you can give would be much appreciated.

As stated, check out the detailing sticky. The guys that created devoted alot of time to create this in a very well organized lay out. Definitely worth a half hr or hr of your reading time.

I'm somewhat new to specific products myself so I dont think I can really help you with some products, but the method for a good full detail would start off with a wash, dry, clay bar, paint cleaner, polish, waxing.

I called Megs about this step 1,2,3 process b/c I had NXT 2.0 and two different guys told me that I can do Step 1 and then apply NXT b/c it acts as a polish and a wax. So below are my steps for a little detail

Wash
Dry
Clay
Megs DC step 1 (Paint Cleaner)
NXT 2.0

PS I'm not pro but this is what I heard from the horses mouth at Megs and this was from two different horses.
