Well finally after a vacation and waiting for the order to come through, the hood is done to the best of my ability.
I tried using the Megs 105 with the DA and the results were less than acceptable. I basically trashed the burgundy pad and it was not getting down through the water spots. So I borrowed a cheapo polisher (chicago brand) with a used wool pad and went to work, with only so so results.

Took a break and remembered that I had some Megs 3000 grit sandpaper, so I soaked it at went to town. Kind of scary when you sand and then dry off the paint and look at it, but I was prepared to buy a new hood and have it painted anyhow, so what the heck.

After wet sanding I then went back to the 105 and then used the DA with the paint rejuvinator, then NXT 2.0, followed by Zaino #7 and the new Zaino Ultimate detailer.

The results are pretty good. With the right light, I can still see some water etching, but in reality I now have a pretty good hood, and I can even see the metal flake in the paint when the sun is out. Thanks again for all of the help.

That looks amazing! Too bad there wasn't anyone around that you knew with a rotary to try the 105. It seems like using it with the DA is either a hit or miss.

I did use a polisher/rotary, but it had a well used wool pad, although I am not sure that a new pad would have made that much difference. The water spots were like seriously etched into the paint. I've never seen it that bad before.

Thanks so much for all of the kind comments. This forum has been a big help.

Looks like the door could stand to be re-hung so the lines match up.

That hood looks great.

Post some pictures of your bronco on www.fullsizebronco.com. It's a real good bronco forum, but you have to stick around here for any good detailing info.
