what i meant was, does it need to be kept wet between each cleaning stage? (i.e. wash to clay to polish...etc.)

im am willing to spend a whole day outside if i have to to get my truck lookin dayum good! just not spending an arm and a leg to do so....

Have you read the detailing sticky yet?

You can clay while it's still wet, but it needs to be kept dry after you clay till you are done. You do need to use a quick detailing spray as a clay lube. You should do the whole job in the shade if you can.
