It looks like you melted the stripping with high RPMs

I applaud you for not jumping in the CD section in full panic mode....what happens when you try and wipe that "stuff" off? Does it look the same or does it feel tacky like glue?

Skip the finger nail test, run your index finger over the area, what does it feel like? feel like it is raised?

hard to tell from the pic. what do you have in your arsenal to fix this? cleaner wax? scratchX? DA? Rotary?

as RR posted .. what does it feel like? it is sticky, rough or what?

It was a combo of melting the stripping and the glue... i up a litte break cleaner on a rag and it came off... IDK how bad for the paint the break cleaner is but i dosnt seem too bad. i dont let is just sit there... wipe it on then wipe it off... bad idea? its working.... i almost have the drivers side done...

First-Put the drill down and back away slowly. Second-If thats just the glue get some lacquer thinner and scrub the sticky stuff off. Third- Get your wifes hair dryer and heat up small sections of stripe at a time. And you should be able to peel it off. It may leave some tape residue, if thats the case repeat step two.

Well no wife, no Gf for that matter... sore subject... haha so no hair dryer... even if i did i dont think it would work... the striping is cracked so it would come off in 3 million peises... haha... the way im doing it is working.... just talking forever.....

Gentlemen,

Lacquer Thinner? Carb Cleaner? Brake Cleaner? We try awfully hard to dispense good advice here. All of those solvents are pretty harsh. Lacquer Thinner in particular will destroy your paint pretty quickly. Let's be careful out there!

I pulled the pinstiping of my truck, get this, using my fingernails. Slow process but the easiest on the paint. Then take some WD 40 on a rag and scrub away. Took all the glue off and no damage. Try rubbing alcohol also but be sure to wax after as it takes it all off.
