Tire Shine?

Hey Guys,

Here are a couple of pics I took a week or so ago. Does anybody have any recommendations on what is best to make the tires shine like glass? I've tried several products, some are gummy, others don't last long, etc. Any info would be appreciated!

Aloha,

Bill

The trick is to start with a clean tire. I and most others use Simple Green diluted 1:1 in a spray bottle and a stiff nylon brush. The opinions on products will be based on expierence, I suggest you try out a couple of products to see what you like. Most on here use Hyperdressing. I used some Megs Hot Shine in this pic. I cleaned the tires and then sprayed the Hot shine onto a F1 tire swipe. the tire swipe is just an expensive sponge that is shaped like the tire, I find them very useful and by doing it this way I don't get any slingoff from applying too much product. Hope this helps.

i just bought some eagle one yesterday and am pretty pleased so far, but i would have to say my favorite so far is miracle glaze, you can only find it at walmart and i have never had any slingoff with that stuff and it lasts about 2 weeks and shines pretty well, hyper dressing is probaly the best though

I have had very good luck with the Meguiar's hot shine gel applied with a foam Eagle one tire swipe. One other thing I do (credit Rock Pick here) is to take an old towel and wipe the tire after a few days. It birngs the shine back out.

And the tip about a clean tire to start with is the key. A clean tire will look better and sling much less. Although I haven't had the Hot shine gel sling at all.

CMSGT Abbott,

The above insight is exactly how I do it, and exactly how you should think about doing it. The advice is spot on IMO. I have used Hot Shine gel and Hyperdressing extensively, and I find that the glassy look is best obtained with either the Hot Shine applied with a Eagle One swipe OR by using Endurance Gloss Gel (from Meguiars). It truly does last weeks and is EXTREMELY wet and glassy (not to mention glossy). Personally, I think that if longevity is what you're after, Endurance Gloss is the way to go (also applied with an E-1 swipe)

BTW-- how's Hawaii???

No Hyper Dressing is not sold at Wal Mart. Most people get it online, like at ADS.

No problem.

No, unfortunately HD is not sold at WallyHell. BUT-- you can get it at ADS (clicky)

Yes, it is a touch pricy, but be aware that it is a concentrate. Rather than discussing cost here, check out the thread about HD. (Click here)

Your comments are exactly what I am looking for! Thanks for the advice...I will try it!

Hawaii is great as usual! I have been here for 3 years and have one more year to go here and then I will probably go back to the mainland for my last tour. I have been in the USAF for 26 1/2 years as of today! I plan on going ahead and serving the full 30 years.

Thanks,

Bill

Thanks for the kudos, bud!!!

What a shame... that hard life of HI...Congrats on the 26.5 years-- I'd stay the extra 3.5, too, for the extra $$$ for the full 30 years.

What's your MOS? (or whatever they call an AF job)

Glad to be of service to you. And thank you for your service to our country! Now you know you have to post some pics of the finished product.

We call it AFSC in the Air Force. I am in Communications. Well it seems they want over $20 to ship Hyperdressing to Hawaii. Not sure I want to pay that plus the cost of the product. I just read where someone stated that Meguiar's Insane Shine was a very good product. Have you had any experience with it?

Ahhh....as I look out my office window, I see 24 palm trees and Hickam Beach is about 3 miles away. Life is Good!

FTruck05,

Here are a few pics but of course I haven't tried the new tire shine yet. Once I get them shined up, I will have to take some new photos. Truck still looks pretty good for a 2004! The great thing about being in Hawaii is that I am able to keep the miles low, currently I have 27,000 miles.

Obviously, I'm still learning how to use this forum. I tried to put in the link to my photo album but for some reason it did not work. Anyway, here is a pic!
