On that note, Husky Liners are AMAZING. I was checking out JP's liners, and was VERY impressed. (I have rubber floors, so it doesnt matter to me...)

And if your like me and saveing up for the weathertech matts, I went to a local carpet store and found some samples to put in the fronts and bought a small area rug and cut down to size for the back so I am 100% covered for under $20 and the color matches my int carpet very well. In fact I have had people ask me where I had my truck carpeted....

to add to this or what i like to do is when i clean a car i clean the wheels and tires first....i then dress the tires very heavy (wheel wells too)....allow it to sit for a few mins prior to start of washing a vehicle. on the final hose down of the vehicle i do a final rinse of the tires....yes it does wash of some of the tire dressing, but just enough is washed off to keep it from slinging off and leaving speckels all down the side of the car. yes a shine will still be on the tires....

then wash the car will take all the overspray off the paint and wheels

dont believe it, do one test tire on your next wash/detail

I can see where that would be such a big problem with factory wheels but with aftermarket wheels ...

Wouldn't the tire shine be running down the wheels? No thanks.

not when you wash them again after the tire shine is applyed...nobody is that good to not get any on the rims if they spray or wipe, it will get on the rims either way you apply it...dress your tires first, then wash the car...it keeps the shine from spraying on the first drive off

I dress my tires after every wash with a foam applicator and never get any on the wheel. I'm sure RP, RR, Boss, etc don't have a problem with it either. Use a quality dressing and apply it correctly and you won't have sling. If it works for you than go for it but I don't see how it's a tip or trick that helps anyone.

I'll agree with troberts on this one. Sounds like a good tip to me. Not everyone has the time to let tire dressings completely dry before they drive, and EVERY tire dressing I've used has a least SOME sling.

Thump, you might want to tone the attitude down a bit and listen to what this guy has to say. I'm pretty sure he's got A LOT more detailing experience than you do.

I think that thump is making a valid point spread it on with an aplicator and wipe away the left over. I have never once got it on my rims doing them last, and never have had sling either. Hell I am not going to turn this thread into a p#ssing match on who can detail better. But I will say that Thump is a very knowledgeable and respected active member in the detailing section and he does know what he is talking about along with RR, RP, Boss, and many others I have left out. So each to his own and if it works for you fine, but no need to tell thump he is wrong either.

Easy there, OCD'ers - this started off as a real good thread for exchange of ideas, don't ruin it by criticizing others' ideas that don't agree with yours. There's more than one good way to do just about anything. I do things that would have the elders cringing, but they work for me and do not cause any damage that I can detect.

Huh?

All I'm saying is don't over complicate things. If you're getting sling than you're putting too much on, not waiting long enough, or not wiping the excess. I don't see why you would want tire shine running down your clean wheels. I know I don't.

I appreciate that. I guess some people took it the wrong way. Oh well, can't please everyone.

guys calm down. RP if you ever decide to make this a sticky (yes make a sticky out of it), can you edit out the negativity por favor? Lets see tips, um, use mothers FX spray wax after you wash your vehicle before you dry. Its a WO/WO (wipe on wipe off wax). Do a 3x3 section and use a MF towel to spread it and use a quality (pakshak, df, etc.) mf towel to remove. I do it every time (Thanks BOSS!!), give a nice wax incase you dont do a full detail, and helps remove a ton of water without going through a million towels. No water spots either. I used the black trim restorer to paint my axle to get rid of the rust look. Looks 10x better.
