Question Newbie

Hello All
I tried to search but did not find this specific question.

I just bought a new F150 Truck. The truck was inside in the showroom so the paint looks really good. I was thinking of doing the following:

1. Washing
2. Meguiars Deep Crystal System / Cleaner, Step 1
3. Meguiars Deep Crystal System / Polish, Step 2
4. Meguiars NTX 2.0.

I do not believe I would need to use a clay bar, the paint looks good?

The seats are a cloth is there anything I can put on them to protect them?

Thanks for all your help. This forum is great

My advice, is to use the clay bar.

Why not do it right from the beginning? Now is the BEST TIME to maintain your new truck.

Rail dust and other containments will be on the paint, if you don't prep the surface no matter how clean you think it is, you are driving them deeper into the surface.

Takes only about 45 min to clay the truck...I say do it.

BTW congrats on the new truck and welcome to the forum. Lots of info here to soak in, read the sticky and the dictionary it will help as you read these posts and put in to practice what you read.

Cheers

If it's brand new, good chance you can go right from the clay to the NXT. Look at it carefully after claying to see if you do need any correction or polishing.

The best thing to protect cloth seats is spray Scotchgard.

ahh, again the disease will begin. Welcome aboard. I always tell people, its better to be OCD than have the mod bug, why? you can make money detailing someones vehicle, you dont make squat modding yours. Again, read sticky, ask questions, and post pics!!! I will reiterate some points in the sticky on here. Washing is one of the most important steps to detailing. Get a good soap, Megs gold class is easily available. Buy TWO 5 gallon buckets. Get a grit guard. Advance auto, napa, oreillys, etc will have them. This help elimates putting contaminents back onto your paint while you wash it. One bucket soap water, the other clean water. pick up a chenille mit or lambswool if you can find them. make sure you have quality MF's for drying and other removals. Tell us more about your vehicle and any mods you plan on doing to it. ask away with questions because im sure you have some, we will be happy to answer them.

If you decide you need correction prior to the NXT, remember, try the least aggressive products first.

Once again thanks for all your suggestions.

I scotch guarded the cloth seats, carpet and floor mats today. (Not the best smell). Hopefully this will help if I have any spills. I tried to take some pictures but it was to dark. I will do some tomorrow.
