I have been itching to try the 86, but everytime I go to ADs, I end up buying something else instead. I really think I am just too lazy to take the EDGE adapter off my DeWalt .. lol ..

It is hard to stop working on a vehicle when you know you can do more to it ..

It wasn't documented... As I mentioned in the orignal text on the close-out pics, it really wasn't that impressive because it was simply too far gone to really have 'improved' a great deal over the time frame that I was allotted (and the $ to be spent)...

Yep... It's another thing to consume the time that I don't have to give to it...

With about 70k original miles on it, I'm itching to breathe a bit more life into it -- although, for a 78', it's really not in too bad of shape. It has cancer in two tiny spots beneath the tail lights but, other than that, there's none.

My bought it back in 78' (I believe it was 78'). He didn't drive it very often and used it on occasion to pull a boat that he had many moons ago. From about 1990 until 2007 (when I took it), it sat outside, unprotected, and deteorated.

He asked me if I wanted it and, naturally, I took him up on it. I put a little bit in to it so that I felt it was 'road worthy' enough to make the 2.5 hour trip back from my home town to where I'm currently sitting (it made it like a champ - no problems).

I drive it on rare occasion... I really want to get it out more often but, I can't bring myself to turn it in to a 4wd trail blazing beast (although, I know that was its calling...)

 

i have some tips for you if you ever want to build the engine in it. i have a 79 and i built the engine in it. i absolutely love my truck and wouldnt sell it for anything. its a 6500 lbs beast and it passes the 1/4 mile in 16.2 seconds. its absolutly rust free. unfortunatly the guy that owned it before me had it painted in single stage paint and its going out the window at a pretty good pace. yours is in excellent shape for being original. i personally wouldnt do too much to it. looks like you still have the factory "wagon" wheels. the paint looks good as well. if its a completely numbers matching truck and has all of its parts. i wouldnt do a thing to it but maintain it.
