Driving me crazy!!!

Allright guys im sure this irks all of you dark paint f150 owners too. You know when you wash your truck and dry it and it looks all nice and shiny then you drive somewhere or come back a few seconds later and there are water droplets that have traveled from the side view mirror housing down the side all the way to the bottom of your truck!!! It drives me freakin insane that i cant dry it enough. I own a black truck so its very noticable and annoying to me. Is there any way we can seal that small space that water gets into?

Air compressor or a blower to get the water out!

I too use a leaf blower. Oh yea, and Oxford White helps too.

Blower

Just did my first detail last weekend. I had picked up a Rigid shopvac with detachable blower. Works great. Blows all the water out of the mirrors, the nooks and crannys on the wiper housing (?), and inside the fender mouldings. Glad I bought it and its alot easier to blow than wipe.

I use an artificial chamois and let it "wick" the water out of the cracks. It's cheap and just costs a little time.

Lot's of folks use leaf blowers but make sure A. it's not one where the exhaust is dumped into the blower air flow and B. There aren't little rock chips and other scratchy material laying around on the ground.

You ought to see all the opinions on detailing over on some of the Mustang boards

I have never used a leafblower or air compressor before, but am looking into it a little more. I always walk around the vehicle and open/shut all of the doors 3 to 4 times each and that normally gets all of the water from the mirrors or door handles that I didnt catch during drying. It is just something I remember doing when I detailed cars for Lincoln dealer a long time ago. I also make sure I clean/wipe out the door jambs real good as well.

This has always yielded me good results.

I hope this helped,

I have a rechargeable-battery powered leaf blower. Very convenient to use.

You are going to mar the finish if you use the blade.

Agreed. I have one, and love it to death. For washing friends cars

Honestly, if you dont care about swirls/marring, they are an EXCELLENT tool to use...but then again, if you didnt care, why would you be here.

HOWEVER, if you are working on a customer car, and their paint is totally screwed up anyway, save yourself the time and use it...
