A little nick or scratch somewhere else doesn't have the same effect on me, but the hood, which I can see driving down the road all the time just plain sucks. Hopefully, this will all turn out in my favor. Thanks for the info about insurance, But my deductible is like 500 bucks.

This shouldn't cost you a dime as it should come off your comprehensive, not collision coverage. When you go back to the station, if they blow you off, ask the name and phone # of the owner, and the name of their insurance carrier. Then pass it all along to your insurance agent and have them go to bat for you...that's what you pay premiums for. Let them deal with the aggravation, and you stay out of it.

That is not the reason is should not cost the OP... if the OP were to file under his/her comprehensive coveage, he/she would intially be subject to the comprehensive deductible (OP's carrier would attempt recovery of amount paid and deductible amount but this can take months).

The OP should not have to pay a dedubtible as the owners of sign's genderal liability policy should cover the expense.

I just now got a call from the manager of the store. He said he made phone calls, filled in the form on-line and is just waiting for my estimate for the repairs. I'll go two body shops just for estimates in case there is a question on the cost. But I got to say he's trying to make things right. Which surprises me these days. Still not out of the water though, won't know until they say "send me the bill" I'll keep you updated. Wish me luck.

I got an estimate, $390.20. Dropped it buy the store. Manager said the person he needs to speak to wasn't there. But he said "If they don't want to pay, he was authorized to pay in-house" Which in my mind will come out of the store cash reserves. In my mind, I'm golden either way
I didn't know the hood is aluminum, which takes a diiferent procedure to prepair and paint. But for now, I'm a happy banana.

What ever happened? Did you try clay and polish yet, or check with any good detailers yet to see if they could do any repair?

Update- I received a check in the mail for the full amount of the estimate today, $390.20 for complete paint of the hood The body shop even included labor to cover the rest of truck for over spray which I'm **** about. They even included a letter of apology and coupons for discount for fuel and other things. Least to say, I'm impressed. Like I mentioned, I didn't know the hood is aluminum.

It looks like you had to wait almost a month to get your money but I am glad that it worked out for you! Do you still have to get the painting done?

It's going in Monday morning. The owner of the shop is a good friend of mine, I sent tons of work to him before I retired and can tell ya, he does a fantastic job. It will probably look better than factory when he's done with it.
