finally finished my first detail with DA
finally finished my first detail with DA
After having the stomach bug and a touch of the flu I finished my moms Accord. My Dad was so pleased with how it looks. Here is a link to the original thread, https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...+first+attempt. I am pretty pleased, but can't wait to now do my truck and the wifes new TL. I did not get any interior shots, but cleaned all the carpet and cleaned and treated the leather.

This is a close up shot of the hood. It is pretty pitted and scratched even after polishing.

Congrats on making it through!
If you think that was tough, wait until you realize how much more paint your truck has over that Accord.
Looks good, bud...
From this point forward, you'll start to notice qwirks and little things that make the detail easier. Also, you'll start to develop a method to your madness rather than running around feeling like you're missing something or going to fast/slow.
Believe me, this is the beginning of achieving great things on your automotive paint...

The thing I noticed is never do the front bumper first, as it usually is the most chewed up part of the car. Had I done the front bumper first I probably would have got discouraged.

One thing that I tell everyone that I talk to about the PC is to be patient. Don't expect to pick up the machine and to create perfection the very first time you use it. Further, be realistic - if the finish is thrashed, there's probably very little that *anyone* could do to bring it back.
Keep tinkering with it... you'll have the hang of it in no time. Just make sure to continue to move foward with good technique and to develop good habits when handling the machine.

The abuse has already started. They drove the car to Las Vegas this week. My dad tells me that they drove in some bad weather on the way. He then tells he went to a car wash in western New Mexico and rinsed it off, but did not dry it. I am already thinking of how hard the water is in that part of the country. This made me feel a lot better about not using any of my new PB stuff on their car.
