Powdercoated finish protection?

Just bought a black powdercoated tool chest for my bed, before installing and putting it out in the elements was curious what recommendations others might have for putting a good coat of protection on the box to keep the finish looking nice? Would just a good coat of wax be good enough?

Treat it like paint for protection... polishing is a tad different as the powdercoat build will be, somewhat, thin and thus, special precautions should be taken to avoid burn through -- even by hand.

But, as for protection, treat it like paint...
