Probably some dumb questions

I'm probably showing how dumb I am here, but my mom always taught me there's no such thing as a stupid question only stupid people. I got a bottle of glass cleaner with my recent order from ADS, this is a concentrate that can be mixed to make multiple bottles of cleaner. What is the best ratio to mix up? When I mix say a 5:1 ratio is that 5 parts cleaner to 1 part water or 5 parts water to 1 part cleaner? Thanks

Since we're asking dumb questions i think ill add a couple.

1. Why is it bad to get wax on the trim?

2. How do you guys clean your rags n' such after polishing and waxing your truck?

Here's some pics of my waxing job.

Great idea Mark, we can use this thread to ask all the questions that we're just not sure about. Mods any chance of a sticky?

1. Why is it bad to get wax on the trim?

2. How do you guys clean your rags n' such after polishing and waxing your truck?
1. I think it comes down to it's very hard to remove wax from the trim.

2. I always seperate my MF towels from my terry cloth towels when I wash them. Towels used for the engine bay, wheels wells, wheels and door jams (areas where towels get the dirtiest) are washed seperate from towels used strictly for the paint. For MF towels never used any bleech or fabric softner and always dry on a low heat setting.

wash them seperately, in low heat .. I do three loads .. Glass towels .. Dirty towels used for QD, etc, and buffing towels ..

I use All Free, no fabric softner .. double rinse cycle, jumbo load, even if there are only a few towels .. I also add a teaspoon of white vinegar per towel to the rinse cycle ..

I dry them on very low heat ..

I am working on it, to be approved by RP and a few others. It is a work in progress, and may be a week or 2 away, but so far it is about 5 pages!!! (on MS Word). When it is all done, it will adorn the top of the forum (detailing one, that is).

Mark, it looks like there are still some swirl marks in your paint. Waxing wont get rid of those, itll only hide SOME of them. You need to get it polished.

I know the wheels of progress sometime spin very slowly, but progress is a start. Thanks

I know its not perfect, it was my first time detailing ever. I did the deep crystal washing, paint cleaner, 2 coats of polish, and 2 coats of wax. The tonneau was hard to reach cause i was standing on a stump of wood and it was 2am. Next time will be better, I'm quite satisfied with it though considering it was my first try.
