Has anyone found a good tire gel or dressing that doesn't splat all over the sides of the truck?

I've been using the stuff that comes in an orange bottle with a foam applicator. Looks great, but one trip over 40 and it's all over the place.

 

I get the same thing from the carwash tire dressings. I just whipe it off with a cloth and I am good to go.

 

Ive been using Turtle Wax Tirewax for many years now. It works well and doesn't sling off. The only downfall is I've never seen it anywhere but Napa.

 

I guess it depends on how shinny you like it, but I've been using 303 Aerospace Protectant. It's not real glossy, but it gives the tires (and any plastic trim) and nice dark finish. Makes it look very clean. But again, it does't give the put-your-sunglasses-on-because-it-so-shinny appearance. Also, it doesn't spatter all over the place when you drive.

 

I have been using the ArmorAll gel lately and I have not had any issues with "splatter". If I put it on to thick I just whipe some of the excess off to give it a even coat. The shine last's a while also even after rain.

 

Off a suggestion by Rockpick I started using Hyper dressing and it is by far the best stuff I have found for my tires. Spray it on, let it dry and then even it out using a tire swipe. It comes in a concentrate so you can dilute it to your liking from a matte finish to a high gloss.

Next best stuff I found was Meguires Gold Class Ensurance High Gloss, but it slings unless you really let it dry. I haven't tried a tire swipe on it though so I may give that a try when I run out of hyper dressing.

 

I've been using the Armor-all extreme tire gel and put it on sparingly. Years ago we used to clean our tires with regular old Go-Jo original hand cleaner.

I really like the NXT in the spray can. I always let tire shine dry over night before driving though.

You know there's a gagillion tire products on the market these days. Every so often when I go to the auto parts store to load up on new cleaning products, I end up trying a new one. Yet I still havn't found anything I like better than just regular old Armorall.

 

What dilution ratio are you hyper dressing guys using? I just got a 32 ozer of the stuff and was gonna give it a go on my next detail. I would say I like nice and wet, but not over done.

Tinker around with it to see what you like best.

1:1 is HIGH shine
2:1 is mediocre shine
3:1 is just a little pop
4:1 is matte, for the most part


I've toyed with it at 6:1 and the tire looked BRAND NEW with little to no gloss. The problem was that it didn't really last very well...

2:1 and 1:1 actually do a great job at lasting...

I use Endurance High Gloss with an Eagle One tire swipe on most tires and it works great. I have Mud Terrain tires on my truck so it is a major pain trying to do with a gel. I love the Michelin tire spray. I just spray it on and even out with a tire swipe.
