removing pinstripes and decals

Hi all,

I want to remove my pinstripes and 4x4 decals of off my 07KR.
I hate the way the pinstripes look and I think the 4x4 decals look kinda cheesy on such a clean looking vehicle, especially a KR.
Anyways, Ive had the truck for only 3 months and she has been waxed twice with NXT. Anyone have any tips or know anything I should be aware of before I do this?

I plan on just taking my time and maybe using a heat gun if I can get my hands on one. Any other suggestions? Thanks a ton.

Andy

BTW, I plan on replacing the 4x4 decals with a single 4x4 emblem on the tailgate, kind of like what is found on the Dodges.

heat is key. once the adhesive gets hot it will peel right off. I took them all of mine too.

Heat gun, or seeing as you're in Florida, leave it out in the sun for a couple hours until the surface gets pretty warm, then slowly peel them off using nothing more aggressive than your thumbnail.

Once they are peeled off, 3M makes a great adhesive remover-wet a soft cloth, scrub the area down, and the leftover adhesive/sticky residue will be gone.

I pulled the pinstripes off the bed of my '06 slowly and it pulled up some of the clear coat. How do I fix this without expensive body shop repair?

Thanks

go to an autobody supply store they have rubber wheels that go on a die grinder might work on a drill not sure basically works as an eraser and youll have them off in no time without messin with heat or peeling off slowly theyll know what your talkin about when you tell them you want to remove your pinstripes

I used a rubber wheel made by 3M just for this purpose. You install it into your drill and run it back and forth on top of the pinstripe. Works like a charm. I used it on the rest of the truck without a trace. I discovered this wheel only after I tried to manually peel one section of pinstripe which caused some of the clear coat to peel. The 3M wheel caused no damage at all. Just be sure not to hold it in one place to long. The rubber wheel is tan in color. I don't remember the exact name, but picked it up at either Auto Zone or Advanced Auto.

Plain 'ol lighter fluid will make quick work of the adhesives and it won't hurt the paint.
