Arrow How many of you clayed your truck when brand new?

I'm off for the next three days, and you can only cut the grass so many times before that gets old. So I was thinking of claying my truck tommorrow. I am wondering how many of you out there clayed your BRAND NEW F150 within a month of getting it? If so, how much of a difference did it make? Mine isn't brand new (9 months old) but without many flaws I am wondering how much a difference claying will make. Either way I am going to do it. I just wanted to see how many hardcore clay believers are out there.

I did .. the day I brought it home ..

here is a pic of the brand new clay after one 12" x 12" section of the hood

I would highly recommendclaying it, especially after nine months .. if you do it correctly, you can't hurt anything .. only improve it ..

clay a small spot on the hood, just to see if it makes a difference. you can grab a clay kit for around $10 or $12 from your local Xmart or auto parts store.

Back in '01, had I known about clay... I would have.

I'll betcha you pull some rail dust off your 9-month old truck. Have fun detailing (then back to mowing )

You'll definitely notice a huge difference. I clayed mine after 9 mos. It was like night and day.

I did mine this summer to only be very disappointed. It was by far the worse paint job I have ever had on one of my trucks. The sections of the truck that were flat looked really good. To bad there are more spots with orange peel then smooth spots. But would highly recomend doing the clay bar though. Not sure i will ever do it again since i dont want to be disappointed in the Ford paint job. Good luck with it.

I clayed mine the day she came home... it was unreal the amount of 'stuff' that was removed.

I've seen it time and time again as well... people think that because it's new, it's perfect. Trust me, most of the time, it's not.

I worked as a detail manager when I got mine so I didn't even let them wash it. I took it straight to my shop and cleaned it myself. You will be surprised at how much stuff comes off the truck when you clay it. At the shop I worked at we clayed every car before it went on the lot.

Sounds good. I already picked up my clay but I've got a few errands to run. When I get home it is wash, clay, polish, and wax.

I just clayed mine about a month ago...didn't know about clay until I read about it here and then started doing some research on it.

Do it and make us Mississippi boys proud!

Here is a link to mine. Good luck buddy. You can do it.

After you wash your truck, use the "baggie" method to determine if you need to clay. Take a sandwich bag and insert your fingers into it and drag you finger tips across the hood. Then clay a section of the hood and repeat the test. You will be cleaning the entire truck.

Clayed my '05 just earlier this year... wasn't too bad.
A noticable difference in shine/depth afterward though.
