Help out a Beginner
Well i just picked up my 2006 f150, and i was wondering about what kind of waxes, washes, etc you guys recommend. I've been browsing around the forums for awhile but am getting confused with all the names and numbers. I know i've heard alot of meguiars, whether its nxt or #7,26...etc, and about zaino. I just wanted to start the truck off taken care of right,so it will look good for a while. I'm open to any suggestions. I'm ready to go on a shopping spree
. By the way its a red truck if that matters.
Thanks for helping me out!

Go look at www.adamspolishes.com
There are some very good instructional videos on that site.
I use a lot of Adam's products and the ones I have used are all excellent.
I have used the Megiuars NXT also and it is a very good product. It is produces an excellent shine and really lasts a long time.

Everyone on here will give you his opinin on what's best. My suggestion is to try any them, but do research first. Go to autogeek.com., great site that explains products and techniques. Here's my suggestions!
Start with 2 bucket - one with clean water (grime grit pan on the bottom) & your wash
Microfiber sponge
Wash Tires and Rims - Meguiar's Gold Class
Wash entire truck - same as above
Dry with microfiber cloth
Hit the interior
Claybay - Meguiar's and Mother's make a good starter kit
Meguiar's #1 step
Meguiar's # 2 step
Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax (one coat)
Pinnacle Liquid Souveran or Klasse High Gloss Sealant (one or two coats)
Biggest thing is to take your time! Read directions carefully. Have fun and try new products each time if you can.

I used meguiars products on my 2004 red f150 with good results.

As far as a specific brand for you to use, just try out a few and see what works best for you. You have alot of good stuff to choose from right now.
Just remember to use a good "suds" factor wash, clay when you have spots from fall out that don't come off in the wash, then use a polish and sealer.
Use good microfiber towels, touch the truck as little as possible to avoid swirls and scratches. Use compressed air, leaf blower, etc to dry the truck to avoid scratching and swirls.

Whether you use the Meg's products or not, the cycle is the same for all products. Just don't be conned by any of the products that claim to last for a year or more. As someone recently said, wax is the sacrificial layer of protection between the elments and the clearcoat.
Well i just ordered some meguiars since it seems to be the best starting point to experiment. I appreciate all of the help.
