Mayo for wax?

Quick question for you guys. I got a kick out of seeing this. I am not an expert at detailing, but I think I do a pretty good job. There was a guy in my apartment complex wiping down his truck with mayonaise. His truck is always pretty sharp looking, but I thought it was strange. Is this a trick I don't know about or has this guy flipped his lid?

Cool

I am by no means intending to sound racist w/ this comment, but I wouldn't be able to understand him if I asked him. I asked him if it was mayo and he said si.

Mayonaise is so gross...I would never put that on my truck, EVER.

He is just wiping it down with vegetable oil.

Makes anything shine. Might be good for the paint.

Saw a guy us Amoral on the paint. Looked pretty good for a couple of days.

Just think what the main ingredients of mayo is eggs and soybean oil. The oil in the product is what gives it the shine. Looks like it would be cheaper just to buy a bottle of Crisco Oil and polish it. Personally, I wouldn't put mayo on any vehicle I own regardless of what language it speaks.

Simply put, it's the oils...

You can accomplish the same thing with a light weight mineral oil or any other type of 'light weight' oil... Not recommended.... unless you have balogna near by.

If you use some crunchy peanut butter instead of mayo, it's just like a cutting compound and you can remove oxidation

Probably

Ok, so it's the oil in the mayo. (I don't even want to know what that smells like on a hot day.) Does this mean this thread will now follow down the famous synthetic vs. dinosaur oil debate? Lord help us all!

Hmmm, we could be on to something here.

The "South of the Border" 5 step Care Care Cycle

1. Wash Car at Coin Operated Car Wash
2. Dry with service towels borrowed from Mexican Restuarant where employed
3. Polish with Mayo brought home from Mexican Restuarant in the handy gallon jug containers while wearing arpon furnished by employer
4. Buff using clean service towels (again borrowed)
5. Complain to buddies at local car show you can't catch a break from the judges on winning "Best Car in Show" even though you have a "Show Car Shine"
