Color sanding?

I took my truck by a detailer today to get him to look at a few scratches i put on my truck from a tree and get his opinion on what would work. He told me that some probably could just be buffed out, but for one long one i had he said that it would require color sanding. I don't know what that is exactly. Just was curious what the process exactly was and get opinions on the process. Any help would be appreciated

for the heavier scratches he is going to wet sand them out then polish it out. this is the same process used after a car has been painted over. i do it all the time as long as he knows what he is doing and doesnt sand through the clear it will be ok.

Thanks for the information. He said that he charges $35 an hour for the color sanding. Is it worth it for that price?

well i wet sanded a whole truck ( durango) top to bottom, i meen every panel. then compounded, polished and waxed for $250 also its called wet sanding color sanding is done during the painting process before clear coat. i am ppg certified and painted for years so i doubt this guy is worth more then what i charge.
