Have I Taken it Too Far?
Twice a year I pull the wheels off, scrub the inner tires, the inner wheels, paint the lugs silver, and the lug nuts black. Every time I wash it, the wheel wells get pressure washed. I dress the front plastic ones, and paint the rears semigloss black. I have a thing about the body color showing in the rear wheel wells for some reason, can't stand it!! haha! Sometimes I even paint the exhaust pipes where they show in the rear wells. (True duals)Every other wash, I use a long handled brush on the door jambs and mist the suds away, then use a wet/dry vac to suck up where the carpet gets wet. I don't do too much inside the frame rails, though.
Every once in a while, I will undercoat the the frame rails below the cab. You know the part that shows from 50-100 feet away?
Welcome to the club!!

Ok, I 'm starting to not feel so strange
I don't go at them with #26, but I wax the rear wheel wells, and the bed with Stoner Bead Max, so I don't have to trash an applicator and a rag. The stuff is nice to use in those questionable areas. Spray it on, and rub it around, when it turns a white chalky coating, rub it off. I can do this with the Box of rags from HD ( scotts makes them I think ).
edisonrizon, to answer your question, steam cleaning the wheel works ok, but I find it better to take them off and wash them with the Boars hir brush just for the wheels. After washing them, I polish and "wax" them with Black Fire. Synthetic wax with a high 300's degree melting point. I can deal with the Saran Wrap look on the wheels, do the wax stays on there.
I am not quite as bad, I don't polish the drive shaft or the antisway bars...so for you that do...YOU'VE GOT A PROBLEM

Polishing the driveshaft isn't that bad really. Now if you polish the driveshaft by jacking the rear end up, putting a brick on the gas pedal, and throwing the rag over it, then you may have a slight problem.
