door seam bubbles..

I was outside washing my truck today when I went to wipe down the inside of the door seems and a reflection caught my attention as I looked closer, I see what looks like a Billion tiny little grain of sand type bubbles where the metal inside the door seem meets together. I rubbed my finger over it, and feels like sand paper.
Stupid me pulls out my keys and rubbs the key on the bubbles and the paint flacked off with no big deal where the bubbles where. Now that some of the paint is no more and now I'm looking at metal, the metal has rust markings that were under neath the paint. I took sand paper and rubbed on it some, and the rust went away.
Now that I have this little area inside the door seem all F-ed up when metal exposing, do I take primer and brush it on, or spray in on Or just go spray or brush black paint on? (this hole area is about 3 inches long by 1 wide)

I noticed the back drivers door too had the same bubbles but I'm not messing with that just yet. Passengerside was perfact inside the doors, no bubbles nor rust anywhere. What could cause the drivers side to bubble up but not the passengerside? and what do I do with the rest of the bubbles showing up on the drivers side to keep rust comign through? sand them down like I did, then paint it again? (Keep in mind this is the area going from top to bottom of the door, not the very lower edge of the door seam) It's only a 2002, I don't think I should be worried about rust forming in the door seams already should I??

Without actually seeing the problem, accurate diagnosis is difficult, but it sounds like you have a corrosion / poor paint adhesion problem. Why do you have it on one side and not the other? Has one side of the vehicle ever been repaired / repainted at any time? As for the best repair, I'd suggest taking the vehicle to a reputable collision shop for an opinion and estimate. It will certainly need to be re-finished to prevent future corrosion.

So, did you just say you keyed your own car?

well, in a way I sorta did, but it was not "key marks, the paint acually came off in flakes, then I took sand paper and smoothed the surface and got rid of the rust deposits.

Yes, just one side of the truck is doing this, just the drivers side. I brought it used, so I don't know if it has been reapinted or not, the paint looks great and doesn't appear to have been repainted on the doors. Whats weird though is, most of the time when I see bubbles on a door trim seal, its on the very bottom edge where the water collects, and on mine, its perfact, no bubbles at all, the bubbles are just going up and down. Its weird though, never saw them on the side like this before.

What I want to do is fix this problem so it won't continue to rust like that and cause the paint to bubble. I'm not to worried about the looks of the inside of the door jams since no one looks at those anyway. I just want to stop the rust in it's path so it doesn't eat eventrually over time to the finish on the outside. To do this myself, do I just sand the door trim seal down, prim and paint??

STOP- and take it to the dealers body shop. I think paint/rust have a longer warranty. It doesn't hurt to ask. If not covered under warranty at least pick their brain on how to go about doing it yourself.
