scratched, keyed and a hit and run

Well my luck just gets better it seems. I was parked at school and some moron keyed my truck. Then my daughter who is 3 decided to show daddy a pretty picture with a rock drawing on the bed and fender, not to mention last year another brainiac hit my truck and scratched the bed then fled the scene leaving no insurance info. go figure right? Does anyone have any ideas about what to use to get the scratches out and make the truck very shiny? Not a paint job though, also I have never used clay bar before would that be something to try and do you do it before or after wax. Thanks in advance.

Can you get us some pictures of your scratches and such? It's difficult to say 'this will work...' without having an idea on the severity of your problem(s).

I'll get the digital cameral out and take some pics maybe I can figure out how to get them on here for you guys, the rock picture is pretty but I don't think it goes well with the paint. It's not that bad though looks like she didn't push very hard doing her drawing, thank God she is only 3! After washing the vehicle what is best to start with? cleaner wax, scratch-x, clay? Also do you guys know how to get stains out of the paint, I don't know what is on the hood but I'll get pics of those also, I don't park under trees so I know its not sap. Anyway I'll try to get the pics on here tonight.

When you get the pictures, make sure you take pictures of the stain for us.

As far as starting out and trying to remove the scratches I might start by claying the area but it's not a must. Claying is going to get rid of the surface contamination, not the scratches.

To start working on the scratches I would start off with ScratchX by Meguiars. That is, if you can't feel the scratch if you can then the other guys are going to be the best bet for advise. Now if the scratches are not really noticable when you run your fingers along then I'd recommend the following. Get an applicator pad, pour a little bit on the pad then rubb it into the scratches really good. ScratchX does not require you to go in a certain direction while your apply it, so you can just go back and forth and make sure you really work it in good. Work that ScratchX for a little while and then whipe it off with a Microfiber towel, you do not have to wait for it to dry. From my experience with ScratchX, you may have to go through this process two or three times before you really start getting the scratch out.

Hopefully you will get results with this method. If not then Boss & RP, you have the floor

Thanks a ton for the advice, this is my first new vehicle and its depressing to see it not have that new shine anymore, my previous vehicles were not worth waxing due to rust and damage, between my wife's taurus and my pickup I pay a lot more attention to them, mostly washing and detailing the interior, but I really want to start waxing and taking care of the paint, I used to let a detail guy wax our cars but that got expensive real quick. Thanks for the advice I will post pictures asap.
