Simoniz System 5

Just bought a new 2005 F150 Lariat Screw. While working with the finance folks they tried to push this $450.00 "Simoniz System 5" crap on me..... Well I declined the offer. But I was wondering if any one had heard anything about the product. I did search on ebay this morning and there are a few folks that are selling the product.

Thanks
Don

There have been several threads about the dealer 'protection' packages... the consensus is that they are a prime way for the dealerships to boost the bottom line and are generally useless.

Yep, you saved yourself $425 that can be spent on something useful!

Good move, my friend bought that package from the dealer and it didnt even feel like it was waxed. Waste of money. He had his truck detailed 2 months later and it was 100% better. The detailer said that they never applied anything to the paint.

They call it System 5 because it provides five very important things:

1. Five times the profit of a normal new vehicle prep job – with exactly the same amount of effort
2. Employment for individuals with who’s IQ and shoe size add up – you guessed it – five!
3. Five things to brag about with your friends – even if none of the five actually made it onto / into your new vehicle
4. Five additional fancy spray bottles on the detailing guy’s shelf – all containing water
5. Five things for the Finance guy to laugh about at the dealership water cooler on slow days – like when they just finished doing 27 System 5 packages – before lunch

In defense of dealerships, some have been known to throw in a free Fuel Line Magnet (to break up hydrocarbon clusters) with this package. This alone is generally worth the money.

Thats just about like the $450 theft protection package. For $450 they take a dremel tool and engrave the vin in all the windows, like I give a crap about the windows. If it gets stolen, state farm will own the ttitle anyway.

Good one 2Stroked!! I thought it sounded like a waste. But I must admit I did at least (so I think) got a good deal on a Rhino job, $300.00. I'm sure they still made money on me for that, but at least it was cheaper than having someone local do it. I was quoted $405.00 from a local Rhino shop. Thanks guys
