3M Perfect products?? Good or bad?
3M Perfect products?? Good or bad?
I'm trying to get the shine and luster back on my 1998 maroon f-150, it has been about a good 2 years or so since it hs had a good coat of wax put on it and as you can imagine that paint looks far from healthy... This weekend I tried the Meguires 3 step product (cleaner, polish, and wax, and the scratchX) with a orbital buffer and it made a 100% improvment, but i'm still not happy with it. There are still swirl marks and light surface scratches all over it and it just doesn't have that deep shine I want. Any recomendations to what products would be good to use? I used to work in a body shop and all we used were 3M Perfect products and the results were awesome! but that was also using a rotary buffer... I'm thinking about buying this set, but just wanted to know what you guys thought about them, if you have used them before. Thanks, JOHN

90ZXdriver,
Some of the 3M products are very good. Some are not so good... at least when compared to similar products from other manufacturers. However, the Perfect It II and III line is usually pretty good stuff.
To be honest, the difference you are seeing in performance has more to do with the rotary vs. orbital buffer.
Try using a product like Meguiar's DACP or Speed Glaze with a rotary buffer and the correct pad to remove those swirls... you'll see what I mean.
