Cool 4x4 Sticker Removal

Anyone ever successfully remove the 4x4 sticker from the sides of their truck beds? I want to get rid of them but I am affraid to just start pulling them off. I don't want to pull the paint off or leave marks of any kind.

Got any suggestions?

There is an attachment you can get for removing pin stripes that works well to do stickers as well. Kinda like a fluffy wheel

Just grab on tight and pull. It should peel right off.

Be sure to wax the area real good afterwards!

Apply medium heat with a hair dryer or heat gun... peel.

If your heart so desires, try it like a scratch and sniff sticker.

Wax after removal.

Dance.

Just out of curiousity, why would you want to remove it? To make it easier to use a DA in that area or just don't like the sticker?

I pulled my stickers off at the dealer. It didn't leave any marks or sticky stuff. The dealer freaked out asking why I would tear apart a new truck. My answer...I just don't care for stickers; I think the stickers looked cheep.

FordTruckMan82 - To answer your question, I think it looks cleaner without them. I have been trying to get rid of the "Arizona beige" accents on the exterior my truck. I changed the wheels and the grill and that sticker is the last beige item. I just want the truck to be all black and chrome on the outside.

JBS - I agree in that they look cheap and I don't care if people know it is a 4x4 or not. That's great that you pulled them off at the dealer.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I will just heat them up and pull them off. I hope you guys aren't steering me wrong. I will be sooooo sad if it leaves a mark.

My dealer put their stupid advertising sticker on my tailgate, above the F150 plate, after I test drove and signed the papers on the truck. I just pulled it back off -- no problem.

Cheap and Easy Removal

Go to any wine making or homebrew shop in your area and look for a plastic tub of Label Remover. It is used to remove labels from beer and wine bottles prior to sanitizing. It should be less than $5.00. Mix with water into a paste and apply to the edge of the sticker. Wait a few minutes and presto, the sticker will slide off the paint with no effort. Rinse the paint. No residue and no corrosive chemicals to strip the paint of wax. This works on any type of adhesive, it removes price tag residue, 100 MPH tape residue, or anthing else that is sticky and irritating you...

Done!

It was much easier than I thought. I just heated it up a bit with a hairdryer and it came right off, no problem. I waxed where it was and there is no sign of where the sticker was what-so-ever.

I feel kind of silly for making such a big deal about it.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm with you JBS - the stickers look cheap. Every once in a while I will see a vintage STX like mine at stock height and still stickered. MIne were gone at 200 miles.

i used "GOOP" on a new rag, i just coated the sticker, let it set for 1/2 an hr and the sticker peeled off like sun burn skin. no paint issues and that was a yr ago... just wash it down good after so you dont get any "haze"

I have a maroon 1998. Do you guys think the paint will look different behind the sticker (since it hasn't faded behind it)??

Is the sticker harder to get off after all these years??

Thanks ~Jim
