Spray paint mist ALL OVER the truck

Hey guys, my "friendly" neighbor painted a lamp outside in his garage, and now I have white paint all over the car, you can notice it on the windows and the weather stripping, and you can feel it on the paint. it comes out if i rub it with my finger nail, but i dont want to scratch the paint, so i thought about a clay bar.

Do they really work and which is the best brand reccomended?

i would go over to your nieghbor and kick his ***, not really i would kindly go over to him and explain and show him what he inadvertintly did and ask him to pay to have it detailed, to remove the paint, that is what i would do, good luck

You hit the nail on the head...clay. My experience with clay is that they're all pretty good from a brand standpoint. Clay Magic, Meguiar's Quik Clay, Mothers' etc...

Buy a few bars as you're going to want to frequently rotate and/or change the clay as you go. This is your golden bullet for very light overspray.

BE PATIENT. It may take a few applications/uses to remove everything. Again, rotate your clay and replace your clay as necessary.

I'd push pause on the confrontation that the previous posts suggests... if clay doesn't work, we can, potentially, take another step.

If you have questions about clay, definitely try a search. We've crossed this bridge a few times on useage. G'luck.

Thanks, I'm gonna try Clay Magic, cause it's the one they got at my local autozone.

Good luck with the clay

use it with a decent lubricant. A couple of years ago I had very minor overspray and got it off my white truck with clay and diluted zaino brothers shampoo. I then did a very light polish. All ended up well. Except for my son who was grounded for spraying his BMX bike too close to the Lariat.

I think at the very least, the neighbor should be informed so that he can do the neighborly thing and offer to pay for the supplies (clay bars, lube, etc) that it's gonna take to do the job. Then, if he's worth a S***, he can grill ya a 22oz. Rib-eye to take care of your labor.
PS: And supply all the beer it takes to do the job and eat the steak.

I have to agree with the confront the neighbor on it. He/she probably does not even know what they did and will not hesitate to place a nice new coat of overspray back on your truck for you if they don't realize what they did. I am not saying go over demanding and being a turd about it but you should at least let them know. If they are even the slightest of a decent human being they will at minimum appologize and possibly offer to cover the cost of fixing their error in judgement.

Your neighbor's homeowner insurance will pay for this! Contact them. I had a neighbor who sealed his deck with that Thompson's crap and sprayed his neighbor's car with the stuff. They paid for the entire Honda Civic to be repainted.

Problem Soved

Well, I went to autozone and bought MOTHERS California Clay Bar. It Came with a lubricant, an 80g Clay Bar, and a small 4 oz Bottle of Carnuba Way. It was $16.

I got home and in about 45 minutes, my paint was better than ever. Really great product, I really reccomend it, really easy to use. Great Results, took the paint spray off + it left the car shinier and smother than ever. After i was done, I put the claybar inside a Ziploc bag and poured some lubricant inside the bag to help it stay humid.

BTW I did let the neighbor know about his mistake and he did offer to pay for the product, but I was sp happy of the results, I told him it was cool, just watchout next time.

Thanks to you guys for all the hep and support...

Glad to hear this worked out for you. For those others who are going to try it, make sure that you use an excellent lubricant. A simple bottle of Meguiar's quick (or last) detail will work perfectly. And don't try to skimp on the clay. Although they will all work to some extent, the cheapest is definately not the best in this case. Also, make sure you use the appropriate clay for the job. THere are several levels of clay, from light to heavy. If you use the heavy on a light job, and on a darker colored car, you will pay the price thereafter!

the same happened to me... painters were painting the house and sprayed white paint on my black FX4!!!!

i didn't notice it until a few days later... and i washed it and kinda picked at the spots to get them off.....

the white paint wasn't bad.. it was just small specs lightly here and there.....

i don't think i got all of them so i'll try the clay bar approach tomorrow as i have the day off.....

ugh.....
