I haven't been able to find any Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer yet. If it's not UV rated, I don't want any any way.

So to sum it up, which product is the best for using on the dashes of our trucks? Some don't like Armor All, which is a popular product, so what is better? No UV protection on some of the others, isn't this something that is fairly important?

I'm just trying to figure out what I should pick up and start using on my truck (a '99 F150).

Thanks,

black'n'chrome

For vinyl, it's hard to beat 303. You may have to try a boat or kayak place to find it.

But isn't my dash plastic? I think the only vinyl I have is on the doors by the handles. So what is the best for my dash?

Contrary to some of the detailing gods here, I do use the armor all. I dont mind the shine and it gets toned down soon after its applied. It does draw dust and stuff to it thats why I keep a lint/duster to just give it a quick whipe once and a while and it looks great. And I use the whips so there's no overspray and I dont use too much.

I've never used Mequires Quik Interior Detailer, but I have used other mequires products which work great. There just a little on the expensive side.

BNC...

Give Meguiar's Quik Detailer Interior a try.

You are right, your dash is, primarily, plastic and thus, we don't have to worry as much about the plasticizers that are in the mix deterorating like they did with vinyl covered foam (old school dashes). They can, however, still fade. UV protection is the main thing.

Personally, I find that QD I is a one of a kind product that leaves a matte finish and does an EXCELLENT job.

Thanks RP,

I'll give Meg.'s Interior QD a try. I like their NXT waxes, and have always learned a lot from your posts.

Thanks again

In my opinion, it's a really good product and fits into a niche that really doesn't have many products. Also, within the detailing world on the web (referring specifically to some of the more pronounced detailing message boards -- autopia, dc, a few others) it's pretty highly respected and liked...

Give it a try and let us know what you think!

I was just looking at Meguair's website and see they have a new product called "NXT Generation™ Tech Protect." Has anyone tried this or heard anything about it? I've had good luck with the other NXT's, so just wondering how this compares to the Interior QD we were just talking about that I was going to try.

Thanks

Yep. I've had a bottle of it for over a year now and have used it twice. I simply don't like it.

QD Interior is a VERY different type of product... it's not a 'shine it up and make it glossy' product... it's more of a dust it off and leave some UV protection product. It'll leave a matte finish versus a slimy finish like the NXT C00ckpit Protectant (now called NXT Tech Protectant).

Well, thanks a lot for the warning, you may have saved me $6.99. I'll just try the QD Interior instead.

Obviously, you're the man RP!

haha, thanks again

There's a boatload of good info on our boards B&C... Some people do like the NXT Protectant but, I'm just not one of them...

The keys to learning which products that you want to try and the products that you want to use are entirely up to you... let other's opinions be a guide sometimes but, other times, let your experience guide you.
