Detailing black plastic running boards.

I am looking for a product which would be suitable for detailing the black molded plastic factory running boards. I need something that will clean, restore, and protect the finish but not leave them oily or slippery. Anybody know if there is such a product? Thanks.

My personal favorite when it comes to exterior protectants is Vinylex. Even better, Pep Boys stocks the Vinylex Wipes on the shelf. My KR boards get the treatment after EVERY wash. It's really good stuff...

I like Meguiar's #40 or 303 Aerospace Protectant . Each of these products will leave the running boards black without being slick or shiny. I'm going to try Vinylex sometime soon. Good luck.

I've been using the mothers back to black, it looks great and is not very slick. You just have to use what I consider to be quite a bit to realy get the luster back up, if there is suck a thing for plastic.

To clean it I like Meguiar's #39...

To protect it, I would recommend #40. It is a low gloss product.

Even better, Meguiar's makes a Natural Shine Vinyl and Rubber Protectant. This contains UV protection as well. And will provide a nice natural "matte" looking shine.

Mother's "Back-to-Black" works great on the plastic-covered step bars of the wife's Escape!
