if its oil based it will.

try something like vinylex or that other water based protectant alot of people use, cant think of the name of it off hand, coming to a blank,..303??

anyway, water based stuff if there's too much in spots will just evaporate and be dry to the touch....oil based stuff will puddle and attract dirt and dust. and with the water based stuff, if any dirt does stick, when you spray the engine down it'll all rinse off

I love Black Magic car care products. Just picked up their newest product, Black Magic Engine Shine. It says "no wrapping required." I'm going to try it out this weekend. Will report back.

I once worked in an auto detailing shop and we wouldn't wahs any engine because of computers and getting them wet. I'm glad I now know how to keep my engine clean though. I wash truck at least once every two weeks or whenever else it needs it. OH YEAH! when washing your truck, make sure to get in the rear bumper if you can because fords are bad about keeping mud in the bumpers and causing them to rust.

WD40

There should be two things in quantity in any shop/toolbox. WD40 to make it go and duct tape (EB-green, the mil-spec version) to make it stop!

Nearly every professional shop has taken this policy. It's common-place within the industry now.

Personally, the only engine that I'll detail is the one that I, personally, own.
