Rust Below Seats

I was detailing my rig today and noticed what looks like rust under the seat. It's on the part that hooks into the body. How would that happen? And...should I take it to the dealer while it's still under warranty? (If that's even covered)

Thanks!

Hmm...

Not sure how or why that would happen (with the obvious exception of steel and moisture causing oxidation). I'd have the dealership look at it. If for no other reason than to have it on record.

As we all know, oxidation will cause a inherent weakness in a material like steel. From the sounds of where it's located, you certainly don't want any 'weakness'. Safety is a virtue.

The only thing I could think of would be water from my wife's boots. She sits in the back with the little one and tucks her feet under the seat. I'll bring her in to the dealership...better safe than sorry.
