Question emblems and badges

ive got a 2001 sport 4.6. i wanted to know if i were to take off my badges on the front quarter panels and tailgate if there are any pin holes through the fender. I'm going to leave the ford emblem on the tailgate, but i just want to remove the f150xlt triton badges. does anyone know the best way to do it? About how far apart are the pinholes if there are any?

Yes, there are holes - generally two per badge - in the sheet metal. These are used to align the badges when they are installed. To remove one, the best method I've used is to heat things up with a blow drier, then use fishing line to "saw" through the adhesive tape. The rest of the tape comes off pretty easily by simply rubbing it. I think you'll find the holes look uglier than the badges though.

I'm not sure how far apart the holes are. You might try stopping into your local Ford parts department and seeing if they have the parts so you could look at them. I do remember that one hole is bigger than the other to prevent putting the blue oval on upside down.

I changed out the emblems on my truck to be the 04-05 style emblems. The old emblems indeed have two holes (and one large hole in the center if I remember right), bu the 04 emblem covered all of them. I drilled new holes for the new emblems, because I"m **** about centering and wanted it to be exact. Sorry I dont have the specs, I can send you a pic of it though.

As I recall, they were about $30 each, with my 20% club discount, from the local ford dealer.

Tailgate Emblems

I have a question about the tailgate F-150 emblems. Are there holes under the emblem? Before I start with the fishing line I want to know what I'm up against?

Little secret - the tailgate emblem is exactly the same as the front fender ones - except for saying XL or XLT. I swapped out my plain one for an XLT one on my '02. Oh yea, and that means it has two pins / holes. It still comes off quite easily if you heat it up.
